Once the ceremony was over, guests made their way up to the barn to sign the "guest book" which was designed by the bride. Their idea was a large branch planted in a large glass vase with soil, moss and river rocks and around the "tree" were paper leaves for guests to sign and write messages which were then attached to "tree" with string.
The guests and bridal party enjoyed delicious hors d'oeuvres and drinks during cocktail hour. To give as favors to the guests, Peter and Pam selected caramel apples to go along with their fall theme wedding! They were displayed inside on a table with authentic wooden orchard lugs as well as small squash and pumpkins to add more color to the table.
When dinner was being placed out on the buffet tables, guests made their way to the escort card table which had their names and table name pinned to anjou pears. The catering was done by Talia Hammond and her staff from Cork and Bottle Catering.
The tables had burlap runners on top of ivory table linens. The center pieces were designed and created by the bride and her mother! Each table had its own fall color charger with matching candles, leaf arrangements, pine-cones and fall vegetables. Instead of using table numbers, the bride and groom selected matching photos of when they were younger. For example, one of the table names was "Gone Fishin'" and the large maple leaf had photos of Peter and Pam fishing when they were younger. Another table name was "Eight Eyes" with photos of them wearing glasses. This is a great way to add a cute, humorous and personal touch to your wedding, as well as staying organized by assigning guests to certain tables.
After dinner, the guests and bridal party enjoyed listening to a variety of toasts to the couple. The mother and father of the groom wrote a personal poem which went through a story of Peter's life all the way to when he met Pam and to their wedding day. Next came the cake cutting, cakes designed and made by Jutta at La Joconde Cakes.
The couple and friends had a blast dancing the night away and enjoying each other's company. This group was truly a pleasure to work with as everyone was so sweet and kind! The groom came up to me at the end of the night to say how he had appreciated everyone's hard work and how he and his family had a great time. I responded by saying how much fun it was to work at their wedding and that it was a GREAT way to end a busy and fun wedding season! Best of luck and happiness to Peter and Pam! :)
